Five Star Comedy ft Vivek Mahbubani, Tim To, Ryan Hynek, & Kate Hu

Vivek Mahbubani is a Hong Kong-bred bilingual stand-up comedian performing in both Cantonese and English. Having been crowned the Funniest Person (in Chinese) in Hong Kong in 2007 followed by his victory in the English category at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition in 2008, Vivek has had the opportunity to take his sense of humor all over the world including Hong Kong, China, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Canada and USA.

In 2014, the World Famous Laugh Factory in USA ranked Vivek as one of the top 10 comedians in their Annual Funniest Person in the World Competition.In 2015, he was handpicked as one of the comedians to represent Asia’s best in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s inaugural “Comedy Zone Asia” shows. In 2016, he was featured in Comedy Central’s first ever “Stand up Asia!” shows. One of Vivek’s passions is reading and his favorite book is Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Oddly, his favorite color is hot pink.

Tim To is a Chinese Canadian comedian, he grew up in Toronto and has spent about a decade living in Hong Kong. His comedic style explores his unhinged interpretation of his experiences and defines his own brand of logic. In 2020, he was the winner of BushiRoast 4 and continues to explore his comedic style in shows throughout Hong Kong.-

Ryan Hynek is a Chicago native who’s been yucking it up on the Asia Comedy circuit since 2007. Knowing that comedy won’t pay the rent in his 300 foot ‘deluxe’ apartment in the sky, Ryan works full-time as a secondary school English teacher. He’s the first to admit that he uses his students as guinea pigs for his brand of observational humor and finds success in their puzzled looks. He’s a top three finalist in the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival and has played clubs around the world from Chicago to Hanoi. You can find Ryan poking around the comedy clubs in HK most weekends.

Kate Hu developed her unique sense of humor by always talking back to her very Chinese parents growing up. She was fascinated the first time she came across Jerry Seinfeld and Louie CK's comedy on the internet, though the Great Firewall.

After years of copycatting her favorite comedians' jokes to her friends, she was finally pushed to write and perform her own stuff. Kate's dream is to become the first comedy therapist. It's been working for her... so far.
